MEP
Because the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within a building make up a significant portion of a building’s cost and directly impact the user’s satisfaction with the building, HMH Builders has a department dedicated to focusing on the MEP systems within buildings.
This staff is comprised of professionals with backgrounds as design engineers and subcontractors. Their primary function is to act as the owner’s advocate in the design and construction of the integrated building systems to ensure all systems operate as intended.
In addition to standard mechanical systems for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, and plumbing, MEP systems can include:
Energy Management
Fire suppression
Fire alarm
Security
Communications
Data processing and transmission
Specialized and process piping
Uninterrupted power supply (UPS)
Specialized lighting and lighting control
These systems may be extremely complex and are usually interconnected. By having expert MEP resources in-house, HMH Builders takes the lead to integrate these systems together, focusing on performance and results.
Sustainable Construction
Sustainability is a focus at HMH Builders. It’s something we strive for in the communities where we build and in the buildings we create, and it’s why we’ve become one of the leaders in the Green Building movement.
Green building helps promote sustainability by creating healthier working and living spaces. It’s not only smart, it’s cost-effective. For every project we build, our LEED-accredited professionals use practices that minimize waste and help conserve resources, from water and energy to building materials and the site itself.
Our focus on sustainability is not limited to LEED-accreditation for our projects. Our business principles embrace sustainable practices. Our employees have incentives to drive low-emission vehicles, our corporate fleet includes hybrid vehicles, our main office and jobsites incorporate recycling programs as standard practices, and we focus on reduced use of energy and resources.
We believe strongly in Green Building and environmental consciousness. We know that it is not only the popular thing to do. It is the right thing to do.
