The Alliance is a Property and Business Improvement District (PBID), created in 2006 to "Advocate for business, transportation and community" in the largest industrial area in the city and county of Sacramento.
Representing the largest industrial area in Northern California, Power Inn Alliance is a non-profit organization advocating for businesses, transportation and communities located in the southeastern quadrant of Sacramento. In short, The Alliance is the defacto chamber of commerce, the business advocate and the community spokesperson for the entire area.
Primary programs include:
- Planning and Zoning Oversight: Collaborating with the City and County on permitting, sign ordinance, code enforcement, and related issues.
- Economic Development: Attracting new business and industries with the goal of increasing jobs and accelerating the economic base.
- Security and Crime Abatement: Educating members on how to improve security and working with Sacramento Police Department to curb property crime.
- Beautification: Spending over $90,000 annually to clean up trash, debris and discarded assortment of junk including an occasional abandoned automobile. Look for the Clean Up Crew daily covering the Power In Area in their bright blue truck.
- Transportation Management: Providing members and residents with environmental-friendly alternatives to getting around. The Alliance partners with transportation agencies such as the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) to make recommendations for street and pedestrian pathways.
- Advocacy: Speaking out on business and neighborhood issues before key government agencies and commissions such as the City Council, Planning Commission, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, and County Environmental Management.
- Networking: Hosting various meetings, mixers and events, such as the annual Dinner at the Dump, to give members opportunities to expand their network of contacts and connect other members and political leaders.
